The Ambrose Chronicles
Det. Dominic Cross
Streetwise Detective New to Ambrose and Its Mysteries
Detective Dominic Cross is a streetwise, sarcastic and extremely cynical police detective from Chicago. Cross (as he’s known by the rest of the party), despite outward appearances, loves his job and takes it very seriously. He has a strong sense of justice, and realizes that sometimes its necessary to break some rules to enforce all of them as a whole. He had quite a reputation at CPD, known for his brash actions and sometimes flagrant disregard for authority. Also, Cross had a reputation for receiving the odd cases, ones that couldn’t be explained that his superiors had given him in an attempt to get back at him for being a great cop while at the same time ignoring their orders. Cross met these obstacles the way he deals with most things in his life, he tackled them head on, solving his “unexplainable” cases and providing realistic answers. But more than anything else, Cross had the reputation of the “Bullet-Dodger”, which came from several instances of Cross being in the direct line of fire and coming out without a single mark.
Cross had fought tooth and nail to get where he was, but all it took was one case to bring it all tumbling down, literally.
While working on a case involving the abduction and ritualistic murder of several children Cross’ will was put to the test. After getting absolutely nowhere in the case Cross received a mysterious text message from the killer, telling him that the work was almost complete. After that, several more children disappeared. After an exhaustive search and endless research Cross finally figured out the pattern and rushed to where he knew the killer would strike again. With the only person available to back him up a rookie detective by the name of Dalton. Together Cross and Dalton went to the abandoned building where the final murder would take place. Once there they got separated, and Cross discovered that he had been too late. He discovered the bodies of the five most recent victims, all killed by a pale man. Cross moved to arrest the man, only to be stopped by Dalton, who had been working with the killer the whole time. After a quick skirmish Cross managed to subdue both of them, but an explosion caused the building to collapse. Cross survived but he sustained injuries.
After being checked out in the hospital Cross was then told he was being transferred to a smaller city, under the assumption that he could use some easy work for a while.
That city is Ambrose, North Carolina.
And the work isn’t exactly what one might call “easy”.
